About
The iiNet Team Sprint Cup is a unique sprint swimming team event based on a 6 x 50m relay format, where teams can be formed through corporate ties, mates, social groups, surf clubs, swimming clubs, sporting clubs and families. Because of the nature of a 6 x 50m relay the event is fast flowing with great excitement as lead positions change over the course of 6 laps.
Held in the heart of the Western Suburbs at the Christ Church Grammar School pool, the iiNet Team Sprint Cup has been designed and organized with the help of local swimming coach and identity Bill Kirby OAM, 2000 Olympic Gold Medalist.
The afternoon at the pool is great for families with showcase events comprising local sporting identities and some of the fastest WA sprint swimmers plus music, food and drinks scheduled at the event conclusion. All proceeds go to the Autism West Support Inc. which provides support for families with children who are on the Autism Spectrum.
Over the past 2 years in excess of $130,000 has been raised for Autism West Support Inc through the Team Sprint Cup events.
A very big thank you to all the competitors and spectators at the 2009 Team Sprint Cup, particularly to all the volunteers for their generous donations and enthusiastic support.
